About ERGO

Who We Are

ERGO is a provincial subject association dedicated to promoting the best educational practices for multilingual learners, including English language learners (ELLs) from Kindergarten to Grade 12. 

As an organization of ESL/ELD coordinators, consultants, instructional resource teachers, and board designates, ERGO members meet throughout the year to advocate for equitable educational opportunities for ELLs, both at the local and Ministry of Education levels. ERGO members also share and develop resources, and build member capacity through networking and professional learning.

What We Do

• Advocating for multilingual learners to ensure they have equitable access to quality education programs.

• Providing leadership in the development of Ministry of Education policy and resource documents related to multilingual learners.

• Supporting the implementation of elementary and secondary programs by developing and sharing resources.

• Contributing and responding to provincial and federal issues related to multilingual learners.

• Providing a forum for discussions about issues, initiatives, and research.

• Providing a provincial network for communication between boards and other educational organizations.
